Personalized, Comprehensive, and Experienced | Five Ways “Birthing & Babies” is Redefining Childbirth Education

1. Small and Personalized Classes

For us, more is not necessarily merrier. We have always kept our classes small, personalized, and practical. We like to allow plenty of time for questions and conversations that will benefit the group as a whole, and believe the best way to do that is limiting each class to 4-5 couples. Hospital childbirth education classes fill to max capacity, and can sometimes have as many as 15 couples in attendance. A client of ours who attended one such class told us that not only was there not enough time for her to ask some questions, but she was also the only person there planning an unmedicated birth and felt disappointed by the reactions of the instructor and other attendees when she said so. Our classes are attended by people planning every type of birth and from various backgrounds. We love that everyone has a different story or opinion to bring to the table!

2. Shop Local

When you attend an out-of-hospital childbirth education class, you’re supporting a local small business! Your hard-earned money goes directly to a woman-owned business that employs other woman and helps them pay their bills and put food on the table. No lie, we do a little happy dance every time a new registration comes through.

3. Ask Anything & Find Your “Mom Squad”

Hospital and online childbirth education classes often don’t encourage or allow you to ask questions. We love questions! Especially of the TMI variety… because there’s no such thing for two doulas. Not to mention, you can feel at ease being in a room full of people who are typically going through the same or similar things as you. Most of the people in any given class are due within a month or two of each other, and can often offer advice or an empathetic ear. One class in particular broke into a no-holds-barred, laughter-filled discussion about hemorrhoids, then all exchanged contact info after the class. It’s not uncommon for two or more couples to get lunch together during the break, and a few have remained in touch after their babies arrived!

4. Double the Instructors = Double the Experience

Our classes are usually taught by not one, but TWO birth professionals! Our instructors have a combined total of more than 10 years serving in various capacities among the Buffalo birth community. We have worked with clients birthing at every area hospital, home births, and the Birthing Center of Buffalo. We are well-respected by numerous providers who regularly refer their patients to us. We’ve witnessed unmedicated and medicated births, cesarean births, inductions, VBACs, low-intervention births, and everything in-between. We’ve served more than twenty families as postpartum doulas, providing expert newborn care and support for new parents. Who better to be your first guides through the joys and struggles of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum?

5. The Big Three

Does every childbirth education class thoroughly cover labor, postpartum, and newborn care? No! We have devoted countless hours determining the best and most valuable topics to cover, and have been focused on providing the best childbirth education class in Buffalo for the past two years. Birthing & Babies is the original comprehensive childbirth education class, and we’re proud to uphold our promise to continue bringing you the best.
